The Scent of Hope
New Life from Dead Dreams
Dead dreams.
In this life, surely each of us has experienced at least one.
Yes, some can be resurrected by the grace of God, but others pass away forever. When that happens, precious hopes and plans are severed from our lives—like a tree cut off at the trunk.
Regardless of the losses you have experienced, there is a God of hope Who can cause new growth, new limbs, and new fruitfulness to arise from barrenness and brokenness. At the “scent of hope,” new life can spring forth from what looks like a dried out, lifeless stump. And with it, comes renewed joy and purpose.
May God bless you as you read The Scent of Hope.

CHRISTIAN LIVING - YOUTH & SINGLES

Gates & Fences: Straight Talk in a Crooked World
Discovering the Blessings of Biblical Boundaries
Highly recommended by pastors, teachers and homeschool parents, Gates & Fences reaches into the real world of teens and singles. In a direct, yet tactful manner, the author uses personal stories, humor, Scripture and solid biblical teaching to address the blessing and protection of biblical boundaries. "My goal is to provoke young people and singles to consider the choices they are making," Wagner said. "We need to ask ourselves, what's my motivation? What are the possible consequences? And, most importantly, is the path my choices put my feet on leading the direction I want to be headed?"
Gates & Fences is about pursuing God's best as readers grow in understanding of the role and benefit of biblical guidelines. Some of the "fences" covered are modesty, purity, and respecting authority. "Gates" are ways people interact with boundaries, such as early dating, entertaining temptation, also the physical gates of eyes, ears and mouths. Each chapter concludes with prayer, Q&A and a journaling page.

The Rose of Sharon
Book 1
She thought she knew what to expect from life . . . then Zion arrived.
Rosalie Johnson, a sensitive young woman with a healing touch, knows the pain of loss. Spurned by her first love after her mother’s passing, Rosalie finds purpose and comfort in caring for her family. Her study of medicinal herbs and flowers is a labor of love she hopes will bless the lives of those in and around her little world in Briar Hollow.
When Zion Coldwell arrives in Kentucky, a flurry of feelings quickens in Rosalie. He was only to be in town for a few days to organize an expedition of settlers from the Old States to the new frontier. To the surprise and delight of his little sister, Penny, the young man running from God and the pain of their parents’ tragic death finds himself renewed in spirit in the quiet outskirts of Washington.
Drawn to gentle Rosalie, who is reluctant to put her heart once more on the line, Zion pledges his love and to return to Rosalie in the Spring.
In the midst of their fledgling romance, warnings niggle in both Zion and Rosalie. Their concerns prove true when two conmen wreak havoc on Zion’s trip west and keep him from returning when promised. Rosalie once again experiences the grief of dashed hopes and a broken heart. Will she ever find a love that will be true? A tender story of healing, love and faith in an early Kentucky settlement.

Buttercup
Book 2
Penny Coldwell's life is peaceful . . . until she meets Logan Mayfield.
When Penny Coldwell first meets Logan Mayfield, their encounter is anything but pleasant. Her brother's accident forces the Coldwell family to hire a hand on their horse farm, and Penny finds herself in daily contact with the insolent man.
From the comfort of an affluent Connecticut family, forced by tragedy to muck out stables in rural Kentucky, Logan’s life is turned upside down by the loss of his father and his family’s fortune.
In town, Penny witnesses a heist gone wrong. She wakes from a faint to find herself in Logan’s arms. Haunted by memories of the attacker, Penny believes she has seen the man before but can’t quite place him. At the crux of Harley Crawford’s return to Briar Hollow is his plan to abduct the blue-eyed beauty who captured his imagination at last year’s fair and secret her away to another state. Will Logan’s newfound faith be enough to help him protect Penny from Harley’s scheme?
Buttercup is the second book in The Briar Hollow Series; heartwarming historical fiction that evokes the world of frontier life in Kentucky. Tender and humorous, the book’s inimitable characters will take on lives of their own when you join them in Briar Hollow.

Marigold
Book 3
The Heartwarming Drama Continues in The Briar Hollow Series
Marigold, the youngest of the Johnson daughters, brings light and life wherever she goes. Quick witted and full of personality, the vibrant girl stood on the sidelines as one by one, her sisters and friends married off and started families of their own.
When racial prejudice drives the Thalman family from across the state to her community in Washington, Kentucky, Marigold finds herself inexplicably drawn to Eli, a young Jewish tailor. A committed Christian, she struggles with her desire to choose a relationship with Eli over obedience to God’s Word.
While Marigold deals with her own “civil war,” some in the community are not yet willing to lay aside antebellum prejudices. Riders in white hoods target beloved family friends throwing Eli and Marigold in harm’s way.

True Stories. Secret Quilt Code. Hope for Today.
A Patchwork of Freedom is the much anticipated follow-up to Lori Wagner's Quilting Patches of Life. This unique and creative work offers hope and encouragement through the true life experiences of Christian men and women from around the world. Gateway of the Sun
An unforgettable story immersed in the culture and conflict of the Inca Empire.
Gateway of the Sun is the compelling, coming-of-age tale of Huallpa, a 13-year-old Quechuan boy, who lives with his family outside the capitol of the Inca Empire. Following a smallpox epidemic’s tragic sweep through his village, Huallpa wakes from sickness to find himself head of his house and custodian of his 8-year-old sister.
Emotionally unable to remain in their grief-filled village, Huallpa and Taruca decide to make a fresh start in the mystical city above the clouds, Machu Picchu. For three days, brother and sister travel with their llamas up the Inca Trail through the mountains.
Amidst breathtaking scenery and stunning architecture, adventures abound – including a run-in with a venomous pit viper. Meanwhile, bearded men in floating wooden houses approach from the coast, and small pox strikes again, this time targeting the reigning Inca. To gain protection from the gods, priests call for a special sacrifice. Who will be the chosen one?
Teacher recommended, Gateway of the Sun addresses harsh religious rituals and customs in a factual manner. The book reveals details of the culture of the South American natives and the toppling of their empire by Spanish conquistadors.
Students and teachers alike will enjoy this book with its entertaining yet educational format. Complete with a glossary of Quechuan words, discussion questions, quotes from Pizarro’s secretary and authentic Inca poetry, Gateway of the Sun captures the interest and imaginations of readers of all ages.

The Healing at the Pool of Bethesda
Painting print and book: Pete’s Passage
Almost 17 years after the passing of Peter Kalajian, Lori Wagner's first husband, Affirming Faith is pleased to release high quality reproductions of his last work.
Pete was a gifted artist who used his talents in his job as an automotive interior designer at General Motors as well as in his church. He blessed the Junior Sunday School class with incredibly creative crafts and room decorations, created sets for plays and masterful artwork for occasions of all kinds.
During his year-long battle with cancer, he had a vision for this painting of the healing at the Pool of Bethesda (also known as the House of Mercy or House of Grace).
In the top portion of the picture, we see the lame man interacting with Jesus near the edge of the pool. Jesus asked the man, "Wilt thou be made whole?"
As he answers, things begin moving in the supernatural realm. This is revealed in the reflection in the pool where an angel is already lifting the man for his healing.
Pete was trying to show us something he believed the Lord had revealed to him: that things begin happening the spiritual realm before we see them in the natural.
After careful consideration, Lori decided to make this available in a variety of sizes and price points in hopes its inspiring message would encourage many to see beyond the seen and believe God for the miraculous.
